MaineShare leads annual workplace giving campaigns for employees to make donations to current grantees of Maine Initiatives’ programs. Stay tuned for the spring 2024 launch of MaineShare’s new online giving platform, a site for individual donors to learn more about the justice movements in Maine and easily donate to nonprofits aligned with their values.
Purpose
MaineShare supports community-based organizations building a more just and equitable future for Maine. Our online giving and workplace giving campaigns build awareness, connections, and funding for Maine-based nonprofits working across the intersections of racial justice, environmental justice, health equity, community organizing, and more. History
Beginning in 1989, MaineShare supported its member organizations through workplace giving campaigns, providing unrestricted funding to a coalition of forward-thinking nonprofits. In 2022, MaineShare was acquired by Maine Initiatives, joining our constellation of programs committed to progressive movement building.
In spring of 2024, MaineShare will launch its own online giving site, where individuals can directly support the MaineShare legacy organizations and the current grantees of Maine Initiatives grantmaking programs: the Grants for Change Fund, the Immigrant-Led Organizations Fund, the Outdoor Equity Fund, and the Giving Project. Together, these organizations represent a vibrant network pushing Maine forward across the intersections of community organizing, economic justice, education, arts, & culture, environmental justice & animal welfare, gender justice, health equity & safety, immigrant service, racial justice, and social justice.
Workplace Giving
Every Fall, MaineShare leads a workplace giving campaign, allowing employees to set up recurring pre-tax deductions from their paychecks to donate to Maine-based nonprofits of their choice. No amount is too small– $2, $5, or $10 per pay period enables you to make values-aligned gifts to organizations whose work inspires you.
Check out the list of employers below who are Workplace Giving Partners (you could already be working for one!) If you are not currently working for a participating workplace, but interested in getting this option at your company, fill out a Workplace Giving Interest Form or explore our Workplace Giving FAQs. Sometimes all it takes is a single employee’s interest to activate their employer's support of Maine’s justice ecosystem.
