Announcing the 2018 Grants for Change Grantees

We are excited to announce the 2018 Grants for Change grantees! Each of these organizations will receive $25,000 to support their work advancing racial equity in our state, bringing Maine Initiatives’ total racial equity grantmaking to $750,000 since 2016.

The 2018 Grants for Change Cohort:

Abbe Museum, Bar Harbor
Abyssinian Meeting House, Portland
Capital Area New Mainers Project, Augusta
Maine Access Immigrant Network, Portland
Maine Center for Electronic Music, Portland
Maine Citizens for Clean Elections/League of Women Voters of Maine, Portland
Maine Community Integration, Lewiston
New Mainers Public Health Initiative, Lewiston
Sunlight Media Collective, Lamoine
Sustainable Livelihoods Relief Organization, Lewiston

We invite you to learn more about these new Grants for Change grantees here.

These grantees were selected through our participatory grantmaking process, which engaged more than 360 volunteers in a process of individual and collective learning, discussion and decision-making about issues of racial equity in Maine. Learn more about our participatory grantmaking process here.

These grants are only possible because of contributions from our donors: more than 450 Mainers that support informed, intentional and collective philanthropy advancing justice and equity in our state. Please consider making a donation to the Grants for Change Fund today.

Also, please join us on Friday, December 7th at SPACE Gallery in Portland for our third annual Grants for Change Fair, where you will be able to meet and talk to representatives from these organizations and from the 2016 and 2017 Grants for Change cohorts as well. Learn more here!
