We are pleased to announce that we are hiring a full-time one-year Americorps VISTA member to be our Communications Engagement and Grantmaking VISTA, starting July 2019.

The AmeriCorps VISTA member will be a member of a small but dynamic foundation team, assisting in the design and implementation of a grantmaking program that awards $250,000 to a cohort of ten organizations advancing racial justice and equity in Maine. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will serve Maine Initiatives’ grantees and the wider MI community of Mainers interested in social, economic, and environmental justice. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will be responsible for development and communications within the foundation, recruit sponsors for our annual Gala and research and implement new strategies for interacting with the public.
Increase sustainability of the VISTA project by managing development strategies to support MI fundraising, implementing board engagement strategies, and creating internal office management protocols.

Amplify Maine Initiatives’ mission of supporting social, economic, and environmental justice through communications strategies.
- Manage MI’s Social Media and website events
- Promote and Maintain Donor and Volunteer Relations
- Support Foundation Participatory Grantmaking Process
- Design and Implement a Research Project
Support the success of the 2020 Gala through planning and facilitating the event. This work will greatly build the capacity of MI through fundraising and community engagement, as well as raise funds on behalf of grantee organizations and provide a platform to share grantee work with the wider MI community.
- Help identify and recruit sponsors
- Implement new online giving platform for event including live, text-based giving
- Recruit and Manage Planning Committee Members
- Support all planning and execution of the event
