Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition
We Are Maine. All of Us.
In the midst of an increasingly complex and even contentious statewide conversation about who is considered a true “Mainer,” the Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition ensures that the voices of the immigrant community are heard. Made up of more than thirty organizations made up of and working on behalf of our immigrant neighbors, MIRC builds power through education, organizing, and advocating for immigrant rights, economic justice, and racial equity.
MIRC is the central advocacy mechanism in Maine for immigrants’ rights, and our funding supports this important coalition’s work to ensure Maine remains a place where immigrants can successfully integrate into and contribute to our community, our economy and our democracy. In addition to campaigns to raise awareness about, educate, and draw support for issues that concern immigrants, MIRC organized the We Are Maine march and rally, which drew over 600 participants from diverse sectors of society and convened support for continuing General Assistance funding, a lifeline for Maine’s vulnerable asylum seekers. We are proud to support MIRC and celebrate their work.
