Director of Communications and Engagement
Andrea Berry joined the Maine Initiatives team in March of 2016 as the Director of Communications and Engagement. A specialist in fundraising and communications strategy, Andrea has spent her career helping nonprofits plan and execute effective campaigns to meet organizational and mission goals. At Maine Initiatives we see communications and engagement as integrally related. Using communications as a platform for convening and conversing, Andrea amplifies the work of our grantees and the values of our community.
Prior to joining Maine Initiatives Andrea specialized in nonprofit technology at Idealware and Firefly Partners, offering consulting services, writing workbooks, and training thousands of nonprofits in fundraising and communications best practices. Earlier in her career she worked as a middle school math teacher, an archaeology field educator, and a development director for educational organizations.
A proud Americorp alum, Andrea graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Archaeology and holds a Graduate Certificate in Museum Education from Tufts University.
Residing in North Yarmouth with her husband, daughter, and two crazy dogs, Andrea spends her free time exploring Maine’s rocky coastline, gardening, and trying her hand at backyard beekeeping.
